I feel like time is just flying by! We are already in week 6 of the One Room Challenge and this week's big reveal is the bedroom seagrass carpeting! The bedroom used to have wall to wall carpeting and unlike when we lifted the living room carpet to find old wood floors, the bedroom had only a subfloor. My only option here was to do carpet again so I was on the hunt for something special.
I toyed with the idea of using a massive vintage rug and cutting it down to be wall to wall but it was a daunting task, cutting carpet is an art.
Then I remembered these cool seagrass carpet tiles I saw on FBMP years ago so I searched for the listing and they had obviously sold BUT I did a little internet searching and found the maker, Rush House!
They are 12" x 12" squares and you can buy them in premade sizes or you can buy them individually. I bought a 9'x 12' and three extra packs of 12. The bedroom is 11' x 12' and luckily a perfect size for this type of install.
So I set to work stitching the extra tiles together to make my giant custom wall to wall seagrass rug. It fits the room perfectly. I was even able to continue it into the closet, though there was about 6" on either side that had to be left untiled.
The rug ties in perfectly with the Serena and Lily light fixture that I found on FBMP for $50. The combo sets the mood for a coastal serene retreat! I love this room so much!
That's it for this week! I hope you have a great week! Please be sure to check out the other participants' progress! Thank you to the One Room Challenge and Apartment Therapy for hosting the wonderful event!
Now I want a seagrass carpet!!!! Can’t wait for the final reveal!!!!!
